Hi! I’m Lisa.
I’m a California attorney and nature photographer based near Sacramento. I help photographers increase their revenue and the impact of their photography by teaching legal strategies critical to protecting their creative work.

My Why

I became a nature photographer to share the exhilaration I feel being in nature. Whether I’m on an overlook in Big Sur above the rocky Pacific coast or in my suburban Sacramento area backyard watching a female hummingbird feed her babies, I’m inspired to photograph it so others can join in the experience.

Yet, I recognize that these exhilarating experiences can obscure the daily reality of the wildlife surrounding us - their struggle to survive. It’s hard to fathom that many wildlife species in our communities are slowly but surely losing this battle.
Some species were common years ago, but seeing them now is rare. Others may be ones you haven’t noticed before but whose dramatic struggle for existence goes on around you nevertheless.
Their courageous battle to survive goes on despite the odds not ever being in their favor.
While the reasons for this are complex, I firmly believe there is hope. In some cases, turning the battle around will require human intervention; in many cases, it will require a change in human behavior.
But In all cases, it requires us to prioritize the protection of our natural world. As a result, I’m a conservation photographer and writer to touch human hearts and advocate for change.
